Our refund policy, in writing

Last updated: July 2026. This policy applies to publishing packages from USA Publishing House. Your invoice may add project-specific details, but it can't take away anything promised here.

Before work begins: full refund

If you pay and change your mind before we've started on your project, you get a full refund. No forms to justify yourself, no restocking nonsense. Life happens — sometimes the timing isn't right, and we'd rather part as friends than hold your money hostage.

After work begins: staged refunds, fair to both sides

Your book moves through stages, and each stage is real work by real people. So refunds work in stages too. You pay for the work that's genuinely been completed; the rest comes back to you.

• Before editing is complete: you're refunded everything except the portion of the editing already done on your manuscript.
• After editing, before you approve a cover: the editing stage is paid for; the cover, formatting, and publishing portions of your package are refunded.
• After you approve final files: at that point the work is done and the package is delivered, so it isn't refundable — but you keep everything we made: the edited manuscript, cover files, and formatted interior are yours either way.

The exact dollar split depends on your package, and we'll show you the math when you ask — not hide behind "processing."

What isn't refundable

Completed and approved work. If you've signed off on a stage, that stage is done and paid for. Same for third-party costs already spent on your behalf, like an author-name ISBN registered to you. That's the honest trade: you never pay for work that didn't happen, and our editors and designers never work for free.

How to request a refund

• Call (229) 518-4453, 1pm–11pm ET, any day of the week — a real person answers.

You'll get a response within 2 business days with what happens next and when your money arrives. Not satisfied with the answer? Say so, and your request goes straight to management for review — you won't be bounced between departments, because there's only one team here.

Why we publish this at all

Because this industry has burned a lot of authors, and a written refund policy is the difference between "trust us" and proof. It's one piece of our three promises: one transparent payment, 100% of rights and royalties yours, and nothing publishes without your approval.
