The book publishing process sounds complicated because most companies keep it vague. It isn't. There are four stages between your manuscript and a real book on Amazon, and with us they take about 60 days for a finished manuscript. Here's each stage, week by week — including exactly what you approve and when, because nothing publishes without your written OK.

Weeks 2–5 · Two approval gatesYou get the final proof of your book — print and digital versions — and give written approval. Until you do, nothing goes anywhere. That's a promise in the contract.
Weeks 6–7 · The final gateYour book goes live on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and up to 20+ stores by package. Royalties flow straight to your account — we take none, ever.
Week 8 · You're publishedIt starts with a conversation, not a contract. Call (229) 518-4453 or book a free consultation, and a real person answers — 1pm to 11pm ET, seven days a week. Tell us about your book. Email the manuscript, mail it, or read pages to us over the phone; we've taken all three.
Your manuscript doesn't need to be finished. We work in drafts, and plenty of authors write the last chapters while we edit the first ones. If the writing itself is the wall, our ghostwriting team starts from recordings, notes, or memories.
Before you pay a dollar, you get the full price in writing. One payment, agreed up front — or start with a 50% deposit if you'd rather.
Your editor's job is grammar, pacing, and clarity — not rewriting you. Authors always worry about this, so we'll say it plainly: the book keeps your voice. When editing's done, the marked-up manuscript comes back to you. Approval gate one: you sign off on the edited manuscript before it goes to design.
Meanwhile a designer reads your story and creates cover concepts — one to five depending on your package. Here's something we've learned across 1,200+ books: authors rarely pick a concept untouched. They pick one and ask for changes, and that's exactly how it should work. Approval gate two: you choose and approve the cover. For children's books, you also approve every single illustration, which is why illustrated books run two to three months instead of two.
Formatting and typesetting turn the approved manuscript into store-ready files — eBook, paperback, and hardcover by package. Then comes the step that matters most: the final proof of your complete book, print and digital versions, for your review. On the Professional package and up, a printed copy comes to your door so you can hold it.
Take your time with it. Read it on the porch. Show your spouse. Approval gate three: nothing publishes until you give written approval of the final files. This isn't a courtesy — it's in the contract, and it's the single best scam-test in this industry. Any company that won't put it in writing has told you what you need to know.
We publish your approved files: Amazon first, then Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple Books, Google Books, and IngramSpark distribution — up to 20+ platforms by tier. We set up your Amazon Author Central page and your book's profile so readers can actually find you. About 60 days after a finished manuscript arrived, your book is for sale.
One honest note on timing: 60 days is typical, not promised. Illustrated and translated books take two to three months, and we won't guarantee a calendar date — a rushed book shows it forever, and companies that promise dates are usually promising other things they can't deliver either.
Royalties never touch our hands. Amazon and the other stores keep their standard retail cut — about 30–40% plus printing costs — and pay everything else directly into your own account, every 60 to 90 days. Rights work the same way: 100% yours, in writing, with an NDA available if you want one. Your book is yours before, during, and after — if you walked away the day after launch, you'd owe us nothing and keep everything.
